ABOUT

Midori Harada has worked on Pokémon material since 1996, though her first trading cards — Cubone, Eevee and Houndour — came later, in Aquapolis.

Her style has a name: Aire Verte, built on calm European landscapes. Her cards tend to place the Pokémon inside a considered, unhurried setting rather than isolating it, which makes her work unusually easy to recognise across a binder page.

That sense of place carried into the games: she drew the map illustrations for Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, LeafGreen, Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver, along with regional maps in various guidebooks.

Her favourite Pokémon is Cubone. No personal biographical details have been published.
